Clinical Studies
Over the last several years, clinical study activity utilizing intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) has grown exponentially. Ongoing research efforts continue to identify new opportunities and applications for its use. In early 2009, LightLab Imaging together with a cadre of the early clinical pioneers of OCT sought to identify and present a comprehensive compendium of relevant clinical research publications involving intravascular OCT.
At the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in September 2009, LightLab released the results of that effort in the form of a book called, Clinical Research Compendium: A Summary of Cardiovascular Optical Coherence Tomography Literature. It summarizes 78 of the top clinical articles leveraging OCT imaging. The book is organized into five chapters:
• Chapter 1: OCT Technology
• Chapter 2: Pre-clinical Studies
• Chapter 3: Clinical Studies: Plaque Characterization
• Chapter 4: Clinical Studies: Evaluation of Devices
• Chapter 5: Clinical Studies: PCI Guidance
With forewords by Patrick Serruys, MD, PhD and Daniel I. Simon, MD and a prestigious group of guest editors who offer commentary in their areas of expertise, the book is an ideal resource for clinicians interested in reviewing the most recent and relevant intravascular OCT literature.
