Corporate Overview

corporate overviewLightLab develops and manufactures imaging systems using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and the only commercially available high-speed, non-occlusive Frequency Domain OCT (FD-OCT™) for use in interventional cardiology. Many other medical applications are also served with OCT including occular imaging, cancer detection, dental imaging and other tissue anomalies. LightLab’s mission is:

To develop photonic imaging platforms for the global medical community that enable real-time optimization of therapies and long-term improvements to disease state management.  These enhancements will improve patient’s quality of life, reduce healthcare expenditures and lead to exciting medical breakthroughs.

LightLab’s goal is to enable physicians to make earlier and more accurate treatment decisions, by providing more complete and detailed information about their patients. With hundreds of systems in use worldwide, LightLab is dramatically changing the way physicians, researchers and scientists see and understand the human body in order to better diagnose and treat disease.

LightLab Imaging was founded in February of 1998. In July, 2002, LightLab Imaging became a subsidiary of Goodman Co. Ltd., a Japanese corporation which has built a long track record of success in interventional cardiology. Goodman was the first company to sell intravascular ultrasound products in Japan and has developed strong skills in this field which will benefit the commercialization of OCT. Goodman Co. Ltd., has embarked on an aggressive growth strategy that includes building a portfolio of leading products and technologies for clinicians worldwide. The purchase of LightLab Imaging represented another step in this strategy.

The company is headquartered in Westford, Massachusetts.
